On Saturday 24th November sees the first in a series of Saturday night social hockey fixtures – Saturday Night Lights. Our debut fixture is against our close rivals Leeds Hockey Club. Another busy weekend of hockey for Adel, although with 2 teams unable to fulfil their fixtures, the ladies 3s and mens 5s were left twiddling their thumbs for the weekend. This week the boozy 2s took on another local league rival in the form of Leeds uni 1s. The opposition, comprising of a bunch of hungover students and a stand in OAP keeper, were sitting at the bottom end of the table but a strong performance would still be required in order to claim 3 points. As fast as we get a 6th mens team out on Saturdays, our reputation clearly goes before us and sadly the 6s keenness to follow up their 10-1 debut win the previous week, was dampened by opposition crying off – perhaps understandably as they only had 10 days notice of the fixture on a weekend coinciding with half term so hopefully we can look to rearrange this for later in the season.
