Our Home Grounds: Adel War Memorial Association (AWMA)

Senior matches and training take place on the grounds of the Adel War Memorial Association (AWMA), located on Church Lane in Adel, Leeds. Situated in the scenic Adel Conservation Area, our grounds offer a countryside atmosphere with top-tier playing and social amenities for players, visiting teams, and supporters.

Adel Hockey Club is proud to operate from our dedicated home grounds at AWMA. Unlike many clubs that hire external educational facilities, having our own permanent base allows us to offer tailored playing, training, and social facilities exclusively for our members, visiting teams, and local community partners.

Major Project: New Pitchside Changing Block & Clubroom

Starting Sept 2026

We are thrilled to announce that construction begins in September 2026 on our flagship pitchside facility upgrade, targeting full completion in 2027. Designed to support the future growth of Adel Hockey Club and AWMA, this development will deliver state-of-the-art amenities directly adjacent to the pitch.


  • 4 Modern Pitchside Changing Rooms: High-capacity, multi-team changing spaces providing immediate pitch access.
  • Dedicated Clubroom Space: A pitch-facing social and briefing room for players, coaches, and post-match meetings.
  • Full Accessibility & Toilets: Step-free accessible design, inclusive facilities, and dedicated modern toilet blocks.
  • Officials & Equipment Storage: Purpose-built changing areas for match officials alongside secure equipment storage.

Our Pitch & Pitch Hire

Home to all our senior and junior training sessions, league fixtures, and summer league matches, our pitch features:

  • FIH-Approved Surface: High-quality, sand-dressed surface in excellent working order.
  • LED Floodlighting: Upgraded LED floodlights providing bright, energy-efficient illumination for evening games and winter training.
  • Dugouts & Viewing: Features the biggest and best pitchside dugouts in the region for maximum comfort and weather protection.
  • Scenic Surroundings: Set within the beautiful surroundings of the Adel Conservation Area – offering a countryside feel to a city-based hockey club.

Pitch Availability & Hire: Our pitch is available for external hire by schools, local clubs, and community sports teams. For availability, rates, and booking enquiries, please contact fields@awma.uk.

AWMA Clubhouse & Social Spaces

After matches and training, members and opposition teams head to the AWMA Clubhouse for post-match hospitality, hot food, and social events.

  • Bar & Hospitality: All registered players are members of AWMA, receiving discounted member prices at the bar, featuring local hand-pulled beverages.
  • Sports & Entertainment: Three viewing areas equipped with Sky Sports screens to catch live sporting events throughout the week.
  • Social Events: Weekly quizzes, seasonal club parties, and regular socials make the clubhouse a vibrant community hub.
  • Indoor Hall & Video Room: Features a large indoor hall for club functions, as well as dedicated rooms for squad meetings and video analysis.
