Just as well we started a 6th team….

Apparently tradition has it at Adel that if all the mens teams or ladies teams win on the same Saturday, the President is required to buy a round of drinks for every hockey member in the bar at the time the last result comes in.  On Saturday, current President, Ian Phillips will have been mightily relieved that we set up a mens 6th team a few weeks back although by the time they had finished Read more

A Rare Mens 3s Match report

As the sun set over Adel Hockey Club the mighty 3s rocked up needing a win to keep the momentum going from last week. Ginger Tom Scott arrived with an uncharacteristic energy, presumably excited by the arrival of Sam Jackson, another potential friend to add to the zero he’d made since coming to Leeds. Massive thanks to the adult volunteers, without Read more

First team match report by Mr S Ball.

The Mens 1’s made the ‘short’ trip to Richmond, their second closest away game of the season. Ben’s 13 strong team arrived in the sleepy North Yorkshire town ready to take on a side who are notoriously difficult to play against at home. A lacklustre warm up led to a slow start and Richmond began the stronger team forcing several short corners, a goal line clearance from Andy Bird and some sharp sweeper keeping from Read more

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month…

As a sporting section of Adel War Memorial Association, the weekends remembrance day activities were perhaps more poignant for Adel than some other clubs with the monument at the car park entrance a reminder of those who served and did not come home or those who served and came back never the same.  Hockey for Heroes is a charity that links hockey players to fundraising activity for those we remember and we were able to make our Read more
