For once, the weather gods did not conspire against us as a busy weekend of fixtures for all Adel teams went ahead with a mixture of handsome victories, narrow defeats and plenty of goals.   We are saddened to report that Tony Moffatt, an absolute stalwart in hockey for Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire, the North and England Hockey over many years, died peacefully at 5.30 a.m. this morning (Friday 22 January) after suffering a severe stroke last week. Adel Men’s 3s new year starts like the old one ended…

While most of the games this weekend were cancelled due to the weather, the topical climbs of Rotherham had withstood the frost and an away game beckoned for the Adel Men’s 3s. The weather had however caused Adel’s regular keeper to be called in to work, and after his Friday night replacement cancelled in the morning, the 3s once again off without a (volunteer) keeper.
