The Mens 5s continued their run of good form and bad results with a 4-2 defeat away at bottom club Bradford. We have lots of reason to be unhappy, but plenty to celebrate too, including a great debut from Joe Hedge, playing alongside proud dad Andy and showing some nice skills under pressure. Sorry, the weather gods are against us again, the pitch is already starting to freeze and the 7pm U14s are finding it slippy, so we are going to have to call off the 8pm training again I’m afraid! It’s just too risky both from girls slipping over but also the ball can bounce high and fast off a frozen pitch.
With less than 48 hours before Santa’s arrival, the mens 5th team were poised and ready to begin their Christmas shopping. But then somebody organised a friendly “Dads, Lads & Lasses” hockey match, and all hopes of spending a pleasant Saturday afternoon in the queue at Primark had to be abandoned. Duty calls. As we take a break from hockey for the festive season, its worth reflecting on where we are as a club both on and off the pitch as we pause for breath for a couple of weeks.
