Big Bens men turned up at a nice new pitch last Saturday to face the banana skin of seasons past Airedale. With an empty pitch and plenty of time to warm up Adel started quickly applying lots of pressure camped in their half. Airedale showed initially the counter was on when they broke through on goal however the defence delt with it effectively and for the rest of the half Rob was a spectator. Finally the pressure started to pay off with Adel going 3-0 up. Airedale reverted to the smash and hope tactic and when there wasn’t even that option the smash at knee level tactic. This tactic managed to nullify the striking prowess of Phil with it hitting him right on the ankle.

Half time team talk of simple hockey and goal difference inspired the side and Adel struck another right from PB. With goals coming from all angles pressure mounted and the only relief for the opposition was when Andy ran the ball over the back line. Chris also attempted to let them tackle him to make the game interesting however with Rob “spectator” Darling playing in the Neur role anything remotely near our 25 was cleared immediately to start another attack. The majority of which landed on the end of Miles stick as he deflected 4, Johnny 2, Purdy 2, Kieran and finally Jimmy with the pick of the bunch smashing it top corner on the reverse.

Adel ran out 10-0 winners in the end.

DOTD – Phil – despite being injured and getting two assists when a striker doesn’t score in a 10-0 win you must be bad

MOTM – Miles 4 goal magic

Adel now face a tough challenge against Hull at home.
