The Mens 1st team hosted Sheffield Hallam at The Fortress as we looked to continue our 100% winning start to the season.  A lengthy but inspiring team talk by coach Hendley ensured we got off to a flying start with quick pressing and plenty of chances created. This eventually delivered early goals from Skipper Nathan and Buller after some really positive attacking play. A goal from a short corner just before half time ensured that Adel went into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Hendley once again got the team motivated at half time and we didn’t take the foot of the gas and continued to work hard in both defence and attack. This inevitably lead to more second half goals from Sykes, Purdy, Buller, Mayhew and even Jackson finally managed to find the back of the net after missing a few early chances. The final 8-0 result could have easily been 9 after Sykes was hacked down in front of goal but Purdy’s flick was a long way of the mark. A special mention must go to the defensive unit who claimed their first clean sheet of the season and looked rock solid at the back for the whole game.

Many thanks as always to the umpires and supporters for the day.

Next week sees a tough fight for the top spot as we take on Slazengers.

MOM- Jonny S Sykes- The Oxford Uni man again showing his class.
DOD- Purdy- Closely run with Jackson but the missed flick could not go unpunished.
