This being their 3rd home game of the season the ladies 4’s were looking forward to the familiar surroundings of The War Memorial Club and with Leeds winning 11-0 against Bradford the week before the girls were prepared for a tough match against the top of the league team.

Even leading up to the game there was a fight for places in the 4’s, as an influx of players has meant there are just too many to field at once, meaning the ‘Don’t train, don’t play’ rule came into force.

The game started off a little shaky with a lot of ball following and pitch crowding from each side. Half way through the first half things settled down and even with some solid defence from Pam Hardaker and Hannah Dawson a great break from the Leeds midfield saw the opposition score their first goal of the match.

Half time came and some constructive feedback from captain Sophie Bunker and goal keeper Stella Jarquiss brought the team into focus. Key points being to stick with your player and to set the press early to cut out the Leeds fast paced midfield and solid attack.

Some great play from junior Sophie Lancaster gave the second half some hope for Adel however luck was not on their side as Leeds put another one in the back of the net securing the final goal of the game.

With the previous track record of the Leeds team Adel did a fantastic job of keeping them to just 2-0. Especially as Ben Rhydding are the only other team to keep them to a 2 goal difference this season.

Adel ladies 4’s take on said Ben Rhydding 4’s away on Saturday 7th November at 12pm. Ben Rhydding are 4 places above Adel 4’s in the Div 4 North league so although another tough one looks to be on the cards the team has the great advantage of a multitude of players to choose from.
