After a two-week lay off since any hockey (exercise of any sort) was played by Adel they arrived at ‘Gate’ with some slight trepidation. This weekend should have seen the mid-point of the season with all teams having played each of their opponents once and league tables starting to take shape. Sadly a couple of frosty weekends have led to a number of postponements, some opponents have pulled out of the league and pitch availability and games v student sides has resulted in some games moving to Sundays later in the year. Sadly, for the vast majority of our members, Saturday will have been a disappointment due to the frost frustrations (or should that be frostrations??) and the prospect of a rearranged Sunday fixture or game on the Saturday before Christmas when you had planned that Christmas shopping with your partner (not Richard). With it snowing and the forecast due to drop we’ve called training off for tonight Friday 24th November.
We won. By quite a bit. Beale did us the favour of not turning up letting us score 7 goals however without his presence we were under the less than competent captaincy of Sam Jackson.
