One day to go to the EH awards evening in Reading tomorrow where the invincibles from Leeds Adel Ladies first team will be well represented to see if they will win the EH Ladies Club Team of the Year award.

After winning the league with a 100% record, and after squeezing through the tense play offs with a goal from a penalty corner after the full time whistle, plus a strong cup run in the EH Trophy the team could not have done much more on the pitch to impress the judges.

But a team is more than just a collection of 11 (plus substitutes!) individual players as a team should be stronger than the sum of the individual parts.  Within this team we have many people who have given so much more to the club over the last season and some much longer than that.  The Executive Committee includes half a dozen players from the ladies 1s, there are several who help out with junior coaching and several others who offer their services as a level 1 qualified umpire to officiate for other teams at the club.

Competition for awards like this is always strong and to be shortlisted in the final 3 is a massive achievement in itself.  Its a fair old trek to Reading for a Saturday night awards ceremony for a relatively small northern club from Leeds to compete against their southern counterparts but hopefully the return journey will all the sweeter if there is a trophy in the cars on the way back up the motorway.

Good luck to everyone going and I hope the evening is a great success whatever the outcome.
