Ladies
Words from Club Captain – Ellie Pritchard
The Ladies side has got off to an enthusiastic start to this season. A warm welcome to the over 35 new members who joined the ladies’ section this season, we hope you are feeling at home at Adel. Not to mention a welcome back to those familiar faces that have joined us again after a few seasons away!
The Ladies 1’s with a few new faces this year are currently sat 10th in their table. They have secured a few great wins against notable opponents such as LHC 3’s and are all set for a strong second half to the season.
The Ladies 2’s are currently sit 9th in their table, again with some great performances against top of the table teams. Although some results have been unfavourable, it’s great to see the positivity that remains within the team. I am sure the goal tides will turn in the new year.
Despite a slow start to the season, the Ladies 3’s have found their form and are now 6th in their table. Currently on an unbeaten streak of 6 games, I am positive that this will continue well into 2023!
Following last season’s promotion and a league restructure, the Ladies 4’s have been faced with some tough opposition this season. Currently sat 11th in their league, heads are still held high and a lot of fun is had by all, with some great hockey being played. I am sure the great vibes will convert into great goals in the new year.
Last but by no means least, the Ladies 5’s are currently 10th in their league. With record numbers at training and a plethora of new players, everyone is going from strength to strength and it’s great to see their confidence and skill grow.
Finally, a massive thank you to the captains – Sophie, Becky, MJ, Meg, and Alex who have been doing a fantastic job. But we wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of the coaching teams behind them – Ben, Hans, Becky, Roger, Jane, Tash, and Charlotte. A big thank you to everyone involved!
Happy New Year to all, and I am excited to see what 2023 brings for the Ladies section!
Men’s
Words from Club Captain – Greg Hilton
Thanks to everyone for their commitment and enthusiasm both at training and Saturday games, we’ve made changes to Wednesday nights, so feedback on that, positive or negative would be appreciated.
We’ve had a solid start to the season, Mens 1s, 3s and 5s are sitting in the top half of their leagues, Mens 2s and 4s had some tough opening matches but as the squads settled the results have started to follow. The mens 6s have had an annoying season so far with teams folding and pulling out of their league, despite the league taking on our feedback last year and putting the 6s into a league with 11 other teams. Kudos to Ian who has persuaded the YHA to put together a clearing house to try and make sure teams without a fixture can find others in a similar situation and hopefully get a game.
