We have recently learned the sad news of the passing of former club President, Peter Craven, following a period of illness.

Peter was an Adel member through and through over many years contributing greatly to the club on and off the pitch in the days of green and gold and matches being played on grass. He captained the mens 2s and 3s throughout the 60s and 70s before continuing to support the club as a dedicated committee man and umpire. Peter and his family were long standing club members with some of you perhaps being more familiar with his son, Rob, and granddaughter Laura, both of whom played for the respective Adel 1st teams for many years, with Peter often on the side-lines watching proudly.

Perhaps one of Peter’s biggest contributions to the club was to design the green and yellow helmet used to this day as the club logo (its even on the new #ATID banner that will be pitchside this season), although some older members may remember his time as President at the club with many memorable social events including the Medieval Banquet. Rob did tell me that Peter also once stopped a game when he was umpiring to apologise to both teams for being poor!

Rob has passed on the funeral details for anyone interested and these are:

11am @ Rawdon Crematorium on Monday 12th of August.

Then afterwards for Drinks and a Bite to Eat at Headingley Golf Club on Church Lane, Adel.

On behalf of all of the club, we would like to pass on our condolences to all of the Craven family and acknowledge our appreciation for all Peter did for the club to help it provide the foundations for it be the success it is today.

RIP Peter.
