Leeds Adel 2’s assembled at HQ for the first away match of the season to grace the olympic pitch of Hallum.
Fozzys men were however missing one player due to a late withdrawal so up stepped club captain Lewis to more than make up numbers.
The delayed departure played into Adel’s hands as this shortened the warm up to 1 mins thus conserving energy required for the main event.
The game started with both teams cancelling each other out with minimal chances to note. As adel started to organise their press and gain turn over ball they were cruelly punished with a Hallum long ball which made its way to their forward line to slot past Darling. 1-0. Adel picked up their dominance again and were rewarded with a series of short corners the second of which saw the returning Ahmed, with his pink tape holding him together, slot home a rebound from Ruiari’s saved drag flick.
Half time was interrupted by the Hallum umpires informing the Adel team you are now not allowed to sit in their goals for fear of them breaking. Rather a harsh estimation of the pack weight of the Adel team!
Adel dominated the start of the second half and chances started to come think and fast. Unfortunately Miles had left his finishing touch at home. Hallum then slotted a short corner home after a great Darling parry to make the score 2-1 with their first real venture into the Adel half.
Then the game turned. Mark decided we needed a new formation. Rather than speaking with captain Fozzy, Mark decided the way forward was to injury the flying Ruiari with a pass into his knee cap forcing Adel to play with 10 and an injured man high up front. Shortly after Miles, Partner and Lewis linked to put Ahmed 1 v 1 with the GK and with his all is experience he finished with ease for his second. 2-2 . Adel now sensed the win was there for the taking. Hilton was marshalling the back line which allowed the debutant Ibison and Returning Crocker Jnr to have an attacking influence from wide. New rules played their part in what was to be Adel’s winning goal. Partner struck a reverse hit shot from the edge of the D and Miles put any misses behind him to provided the final head high touch to ensure the short entered top corner for a class finish worthy of a winning goal.
Fozzy’s troops with their extra energy stored up from the sort warm up closed the game out to keep the season W2 D0 L0
