As previewed last week here, the match against Sheffield Uni Bankers was nicely set up with both sides unbeaten in the league heading into the fixture.
The Leeds side arrived in the Steel City without Walker but the players had been prepped in the days leading up to the game.
Both sides started tentatively and the game was tight in the opening minutes. Bankers managed to gain the upperhand by overloading the midfield but Adel recognised the danger and managed to nullify before they could capitalise.
Pace from the Adel midfield, and resilience from the back 5 was the difference in the two sides as Watkins scored “an absolute worldie” and was instrumental in all 4 of the Leeds Adel goals.
Despite no tracker this week, Mayhew worked his socks off providing Watkins with another goal and fully deserved the post-game beers.
Reid Hendley managed to find the back of the net, whilst young gun Ed Fuller added the 4th. At the other end Bird and Hill dealt with the Uni Banker’s forward line with consummate ease in the form they are in. Not one to miss out, Taylor gave a performance that made GK’ing look easy dealing with everything comfortably.
Leeds Adel HC 1st XI 4:0 Sheffield University Bankers 4th XI
With this result, Adel maintain their 100% and now sit 3 points atop the league table. The Church Lane side will travel to Hull next weekend facing the University side, following the re-arrangement of this fixture from the 19th Sept.
