The Mens Fours headed over to Ben Rhydding on Saturday off the back of a nervy and flattering win against the 5s last week.

They started well moving the ball swiftly between the front three with excellent support down the wings and were rewarded with an early goal following a great ball in from Damian neatly finished by defender Tom. The 2nd goal took longer to come than expected but arrived courtesy of accuracy over power from the top of the D as Damian topped his shot into the bottom corner.

Adel were kept on their toes by a lively opposition, and had it not been for the superb cover provided by Andy Grindrod in front of the defence, may have conceded on the counter.

Skipper Sam, playing hungover despite audacious claims to the contrary,  scored with a spectacular deflection from a powerful ball into the D. Failing to control the ball and intoxicating the opposing keeper with fumes from the night before, the Rhydding keeper inexplicably stepped aside and let the ball hit the backboard.
With a squad of 15 Adel lost a bit of shape as changes were made and Rhydding came back into the game at 3-2. Furious at the loss of fantasy league points as the clean sheet went, Milesy in the Adel goal gave a war cry that roused the midfield into action tracking back well and Adel began moving the ball better, creating chances.
Through the middle of the field Harry continued to look dangerous, especially as an errant shot on goal nearly hit Tom in the face. Fortunately self preservation ensued and he deflected the ball home for his second and Adel’s fourth.
Adel could and should have had more but there was time for Harry and Simon to get on the score sheet and wrap up a comfortable 6 – 3 score line.
Great Hockey from the boys who sit top of the league two games in.

MOM – Tom Beale for his two goals and constant running and pressuring up top.
DOD – Tom Beale for a hat trick of jug avoidances with 3 x 2 goals on the bounce. Including this week hitting the post when one on one with the keeper.
