Thankfully the weather did not prevent a return to the pitch for all of our teams this weekend. The ladies section scored 15 goals without reply to secure 4 straight wins and the men’s section also scored 15 goals but let in 13 with the 1s and 2s victorious.

The ladies 1s maintained “business as usual” with a 6-0 romp over Wakefield 3s to maintain their 100% record and top spot in their league. The 2s avenged an early season defeat by Thirsk by going up the A1 with renewed confidence following recent results and they came back victorious with a comfortable 4-0 win.  The 3s returned to the top spot in their division with a 2-0 win also against Thirsk, and finally the 4s went all the way to Driffield for an early start and scored three goals without reply.  Keep it up everyone!

The men’s 1s promotion campaign has stuttered in the last few weeks leading up to Christmas but they got things back on track with a 6-1 away win at Sheffield Hallam 4s. Hallam’s 5s made the reverse trip to the Adel Astro and in a thriller of a game the Men’s 2s were just strong enough to hang on for a 5-4 with Miles Buller taking the goalscoring plaudits for the day by bagging 4 goals.  The 3s had a week off and sadly the 4s went down 3-0 to table toppers Bingley Bees whilst the 5s also had a nine goal thriller but lost by the odd goal to Harrogate.

And finally the Men’s over 40 Masters ventured north to take on the might of Durham Veterans in a fixture rearranged from before Christmas. The full report is written up elsewhere but a 2-1 win rounded off a pretty good weekend all round with the Masters awaiting the outcome of the Preston and Lancaster clash to see who they play in the next round (sadly away from home yet again).
