Welcome back to the second half of the season and a happy 2017 to everyone.

The ladies section picked up where they left off in 2016 with a clean sweep on the first Saturday of the new year with 5 wins out of 5 and only one goal conceded.

The 1s had a long trek up to Whitley Bay and came back with 3 points courtesy of a goal from the returning Claire Hesslewood, showing she is recovered from her back injury.  The 2s showed that determination and a big squad of players can eventually grind down and tire your opposition with a 4-0 win over City of York 3s.  The first goal eventually came from another well worked short corner routine, when Tina bobbled the strike from the top of the D to Rosie who neatly played it back across to Rachel Barson who had moved in from injecting the corner to tap into an empty net.  York continued to work hard and put up some stout defending but with a squad of 16 players and some youthful legs, the fitness eventually told as Adel scored 3 further goals in the second half from Tina, Rosie and Sophie P, although credit should be given to the whole of the team for their perseverance and effort.

The 3s travelled away to Pocklington and won 4-1 to maintain their promotion challenge and the 5s continued where they left off with a resounding 5-0 home win to remain at the top of their division. The 5s also won but without the pleasure of going on to the pitch to grab the points due to Rotherham’s withdrawal from the league.

The mens 1s had a week off and return to action this Saturday with an away trip to Sheffield Hallam as they look to continue their unbeaten run for the season.  The 2s fought well to share the points at York 4s in a 3-3 ding dong game and the 3s had a great home win by 4 goals to 2.   The 4s had the pleasure of the first home game of 2017 and put a round dozen past a spirited Bradford side.  The 5s had the last game of the day and the result is still awaited…. anyone know?!
