Last weekend saw the top of the table clash in Div 2 between Adel Mens 2s and Harrogate 3s (who had a 100% record going in to the game) but a strong and determined Adel side came out on top with a 5-3 victory.

This weekend sees a similar clash with the top 2 sides in the Premier League going head to head at Adel Astro at 1.30 pm.  Both Adel and Bradford come into the game with 9 wins from 9 games, with Bradford having a slight upper hand on goal difference.  Both teams have been rattling the oppositions backboards with increasing frequency and the game has been eagerly awaited for several weeks now.  More importantly both teams are playing exciting, free flowing hockey and both keepers may find they have more to do in this game than the previous 9 games put together.

We look forward to welcoming Bradford to Adel for what promises to be the game of the season (so far) and if you want to see some quality hockey played then make sure you come along to reserve your favoured pitch side viewing position.  For those teams playing away from home, regular twitter updates will be provided.

The curtain raiser for the big game also features another Bradford 1st team as their ladies take the early slot against Adel 4s at 10.30 am.  Sandwiched in between the Mens 3s do battle with Boston Spa 2s as they hope to continue their rise up the table on the back of a good win away at Halifax last week.  If you want to watch the future of Adel hockey rather than the present then 3pm is the time to come and watch the Mens 5th team who have 6 or 7 of the junior boys making their way in senior hockey and improving every week.  I am certain that some of these boys will soon be progressing to higher teams and in a few years challenging for places in the 1st team based on their rapid development.

The home games conclude with the table-topping ladies 2s hosting local rivals Leeds Uni at 4.30pm.

It promises to be an exciting day of hockey with away teams from Bradford, Boston Spa and Leeds Uni giving some local derbies to savour.

Away from home we wish all our teams well, with the Ladies 1s making the now familiar trek across the Pennines to take on Brooklands whilst the 3s and 5s have slightly shorter away trips to York and Huddersfield respectively.  The Mens 2s have another tricky game away at Acomb (remember to take the black shirts skipper) and the 4s have a double header this weekend with games on Saturday away at Hallam and then another league game on Sunday.

Thanks to everyone involved in a non-playing capacity as a coach, umpire or supporter during the weekend.

Finally, you can also keep an eye on the England Ladies progress in the Hockey World League down under in New Zealand.  Former Adel junior Suzy Petty is in fine form as the team approach the semi finals and if you can get up early enough on Friday morning the semi final against New Zealand is available on BT Sport at 7.15 am.
