Whilst some sports lovers will be distracted by the 6 Nations rugby or the quarter finals of the FA Cup or the commencement of the World T20 cricket, its a big sporting weekend closer to home for some of our hockey teams.

The Ladies 3s have a massive home game at the Adel Astro at 4.30pm against promotion rivals Pocklington.  A big home crowd is expected to cheer on the 3s with the rugby being “Sky-plussed” around the north Leeds area.  Good luck to the 3s – winning the league will be the 4th in 2 seasons for the ladies section and complete the full set across all teams.

The mens 1s also have a home game at 1.30 against local rivals Leeds 5s – in the away fixture a 2-2 draw might eventually prove costly to the 1s as a win tomorrow might still not be enough to secure promotion unless Lindum or Rotherham drop points in their fixtures.  Both teams seem to have hit a rich vein of form in the last few weeks with straight wins so lets hope some nerves and some determined opposition open the door for us.

The ladies 1s have already secured the title but have a real chance of completing their league season with a 100% record by winning 22 games from 22 played (well at least played when the opposition decided to turn up to play).  Their final game before the league play offs is away but I expect they will be back in force to cheer on the 3s.

Elsewhere we have a full set of fixtures with most teams now secure and safe from relegation so I hope every one goes out and plays some enjoyable hockey as the season draws to a close.

Don’t forget….
