I joined Adel when I first came to Leeds Polytechnic in 1985 and wanted to keep playing Saturday hockey. The club really welcomed me and looked after me, with the highlight of my playing career being promoted to the North League alongside current chairman Mark Powley. In those days we trained on shale and played on grass, and it is fantastic to see how the club has grown and developed over the years. I’ve held many roles as 1, 2s and 3s captain, junior coach, chairman and now club captain, wanting to give something back to the club that has given me so much pleasure over the years.  It is great to see how we continue to encourage and bring on players of all ages, but especially pleasing when a junior player sticks with the club and transitions into senior hockey and continues to enjoy our fantastic sport.
