Mixed Summer League 2022 will be played on a Monday & Tuesday from 18th/ 19th July for 6 weeks. The final two Tuesday games will now be played on Thursday 18th & Thursday 25th August.
For Adel members, the summer league is included in your annual membership. For prospective new members playing in Adel teams, your entry is free-of-charge.
External teams – your club may charge you but team entry will be sorted prior to matches beginning.
This year’s tournament will be made up of 16 teams:
  • 11x Adel HC (Teams 1-5 Monday, Teams 6-10 & Legends Tuesday)
  • 2x Leeds HC (Team 1 Monday, Team 2 Tuesday)
  • 1x Pudsey Lawbreakers (Monday)
  • 1x Wakefield (Monday)
  • 1x Aire Valley (Tuesday)
Each team will only either play on a Monday or a Tuesday/ Thursday night.
Adel teams, as always, have been made of mixed ability. Where members have made specific requests for Monday v Tuesday or specific teammates we have tried to facilitate as many of your requests as possible. In some cases this has not been possible, but those who have asked to be on the same team should still be on the same night. If there are any significant issues please email: mixedsummerhockey@gmail.com
Captains are marked in grey.
Note if you are playing on a Monday or a Tuesday/ Thursday night.
There are 8 teams in this round-robin, and 6 game weeks. Each team will play every week. Because there are only 6 game weeks each team will only play 6 of their 7 potential opponents.
Matches are played as 7-a-side and half-pitch, playing across.
There can be a maximum of 3 outfield men on the pitch at any one time.
Matches will be 2 x 25 minutes halves.
Short corners with be played with the usual Saturday rules.
Long-corners are taken from the half-way line in the corresponding spot.
When an Adel team is playing another Adel team the first-named (home) team will wear ORANGE, the second-named (away) team will wear BLACK.
In all other games the following colours should be worn:
  • Adel – Orange
  • Leeds – Blue
  • Pudsey Lawbreakers – TBC
  • Wakefield – Green
  • Aire Valley – TBC
Teams are welcome to play with or without a keeper. Where they play without the following rules are in place:
  • No players can act as a kicking back
  • 5 outfield players can defend at a short corner
  • If a penalty stroke is awarded against the team without the keeper, then a goal should be awarded instead.
Teams are expected to provide one umpire for each game.
Results should be sent via WhatsApp to Sam Jackson – after each game.
Results and an updated table will be available on this page shortly after each game week.
The clubhouse will be open for refreshments pre and post matches. We encourage you to enjoy the hospitality. Drinks can be taken from the bar to the pitch in disposable containers. Please use the bins provided.
Changing Rooms & Toilets
Changing Rooms can be provided if necessary. Please contact your captain who should have the details to allow entry.
Toilets are available in the clubhouse and the cricket pavillion.
Car Parking
Parking on summer league nights can be busy. This is due to the number of teams we have attending each evening and other sports going on up at the Club. Please be conscious that we are in a residential area and parking on the road outside of the club should be avoided. If there isn’t any space within the car park, there is a layby just down the road which you are able to park in. There is also the overflow car park which is on the other side of the cricket pitch (still on church lane). The gate to the overflow should be open on match-day nights. We encourage car sharing, the use of public transport, or walking/ cycling where possible. Bikes can be secured in the spectator area.
